Vuelo de Quimera Editoras inicia con orgullo su colección de artes visuales Vuelos Imaginarios, con la publicación de Homenaje a V. H. / Tribute to V. H., tercer libro de fotografías de Mercedes Roffé: 56 imágenes en las que la autora recupera algunos de los rasgos claves de los dibujos menos figurativos de Víctor Hugo. El libro, en edición bilingüe español e inglés, se cierra con un ensayo de Roffé sobre su descubrimiento y relación con las tintas del escritor francés, saludadas en su momento por dos poetas y críticos de arte tan autorizados como Charles Baudelaire y Théophile Gautier.

Este libro es mi homenaje a Víctor Hugo. No al autor de Nuestra Señora de París o de Los miserables, sino al artista que bosquejó esos más de 4.000 dibujos de piedras, agua, pulpos, catedrales, mar y castillos fantasmas, por los que rara vez se lo conoce. Es con esas tintas y aguadas que dialogan estas fotos: con la incandescencia de algunos de sus cielos, con sus lunas con rebabas, con su silencio y sus sombras, con los difusos contornos de sus torres y sus barcas.

Vuelo de Quimera Editoras is proud to start its visual art series, Imaginary Flights, with the publication of Homenaje a V. H. / Tribute to V. H., third photography book by Mercedes Roffé, a collection of fifty-six images in which Roffé recreates some of the key features of Victor Hugo's less figurative drawings. The book, in a bilingual Spanish/English edition, closes with an essay by Roffé on her first encounter with the French writer's drawings, and her relationship with a body of work greeted at the time by two poets and authoritative art critics—Charles Baudelaire and Théophile Gautier.

This book is my tribute to Victor Hugo. Not the author of Notre-Dame de Paris or Les Misérables, but the artist who sketched over 4,000 drawings of rocks, water, octopii, cathedrals, seas, and ghostly castles, for which he is so rarely known. The photos in this book maintain a dialogue with his ink and wash pieces—with the glow of their skies, with their burred moons, with their silence and shadows, and the blurred outlines of their towers and boats.
